How to Become a Time Traveler

2x Your Lifespan With Peak Experiences

Happy Tuesday and Welcome back to… THE JAILBREAK.
(along with 650+ readers 🗝️ )

Become a digital nomad TIME TRAVELER ⏱️

A pitstop on my journey to start the longest year of my life.

On March 3rd, 2023 I left my home in Colorado…

I landed a remote job, sold most of my belongings, packed my entire life into a car, and moved across the country to Laguna Niguel, California. 🌴

Over the last 8 months, I’ve moved from:

  • Broomfield, CO ➡️

  • Laguna Niguel, CA ➡️

  • Long Beach, CA ➡️

  • Reno, NV (Where I’m writing this!)

I’ve experienced more THIS YEAR than the last 5 years combined.

This year has felt 10x longer than any year I’ve ever lived. (I’m not joking.)

In this newsletter, I’m going to show you:

  1. How to DOUBLE your “experiential lifespan” 🧬

  2. How to become a TIME TRAVELER... ⏱️

“Life feels like it’s going faster every year.”

I’ve always felt like my life is flying by. 🕊️

Years seem to go by in the blink of an eye, months feel like weeks, and every year I’m terrified that I’m going to be 80 years old before I know it.

I felt like if I couldn’t figure out a way to slow down, life would slip through my fingers… leaving me with nothing but a handful of lasting memories.

I’m here to tell you: Slowing down is the wrong approach.

Tim Ferris is a Time Traveler ⏳️

Tim Ferris was hiking through the mountains of New Mexico on a week-long backpacking trip and reflecting on his journey he said:

“I experienced the most profound, extreme time dilation that I’ve ever felt. Hiking at altitude for several days and thinking back to the morning of day 2, felt like looking back to 4 weeks prior.”

GO OFF, KING… 👑

“What if you could design a LIFE where you have this type of time dilation… Where you take a few trips throughout the year that last around a week, but FEEL like 3 months?”

MIND. BLOWN. 🤯

Tim is dead on. (as usual)

If you want to increase how long your time here FEELS
This is what you need to do…

How to Become a Time Traveler

1. Pre-Schedule Peak Experiences 📝

Without scheduling peak experiences, they won’t happen.

Not many people stumble across the Northern Lights, fall out of a plane with a parachute on their back, or explore remote islandsby accident.

If you want to become a time traveler, you first need to go to the future.

  1. What do you want to do before you die? 🪦
My answer: Travel the world, explore pristine nature, document it.

  2. What/Where makes you feel a deep sense of peace or flow? ☮️
My answer: The mountains and the ocean.

  3. When are you going to do it? ⏳️
My answer: 2023. 1 year, 4 cities, 100’s of daytrips.

This was my dream action plan for 2023…
And it came true… BECAUSE I PLANNED EVERYTHING.

Don’t put the burden on “future you” to do the things you want to do.

Take action. Your life starts when you decide it does.

2. Change Your Environment 🌎️

The main thing that stands out in my memory of last year is the massive array of different landscapes, biomes, and topographies that I got to explore.

I went camping in the desert multiple times. 🌵

Busting a move at Joshua Tree

I surfed the beautiful beaches of California. 🏄‍♂️

I went freediving with the sea creatures of Catalina Island. 🐠

I got my sh*t rocked while snowboarding at Lake Tahoe. 🏔️

By radically changing your environment a few times a year you can trick your brain into remembering more, making your life FEEL longer.

New places are filled with novelty and we have evolved to LOVE novel sh*t! There’s a reason you can remember childhood vacations in much more detail than your day-to-day life.

To be a time traveler, you need to travel. 🧳

3. Kill Your Demons 👿

If you’re anything like me (just a modern-day dude)…

You’re probably an addict… 💊

And you’re likely addicted to:

Time travelers prioritize ONE THING… Experience.

To remember your life…
You need to live a life worth remembering.

The face of a man who spent more time on Xbox than living life…

In 2023 I quit playing video games.

I cut the power cord to my controller, sold my Xbox, and let my Gamertag collect some much-needed dust. I wasn’t about to spend my few months as a digital nomad griding Call of Duty, I was going to live my life to the fullest.

And I hope this newsletter helps you do the same.

Good luck, from one Time Traveler to another. ⌛️
